Our Specialisms
A thin, hand-applied surface system for seamless contemporary floors, walls, wet rooms, joinery and fireplace surrounds.
Microcement is a thin, cement-based decorative coating built up by hand in successive layers. It creates a continuous finish with subtle trowel movement rather than the repeated joints and grout lines of tile.
Its low build-up allows it to follow large planes, corners, curves and detailed forms. The colour, texture and sheen can be adjusted to suit a restrained concrete effect or a softer, more tactile finish.
The visible finish is only one part of the installation. We apply microcement as a complete system, beginning with substrate assessment and preparation before reinforcement, base coats, finishing coats and the specified protective sealer.
A successful microcement finish depends on the layers beneath it. We assess stability, moisture and movement before preparing the substrate and applying the complete specified system.
Assessment and preparation of the existing surface, including primer selection and reinforcement mesh where needed.
Application of the system base coats and reinforcement where the substrate and specification require it.
Two to three hand-applied finishing coats, building up the final colour, texture, and seamless surface.
Application of the specified protective sealer suited to the surface, room and expected use.
Microcement can connect floors and walls into a calm, continuous interior or be used selectively on fitted joinery, fireplace surrounds and feature surfaces.
In bathrooms and wet rooms, the decorative finish must be coordinated with the substrate, waterproofing strategy, junction details and sealer as one complete system.
Answers to common questions we hear from clients, architects, and designers.
Cost depends on the area covered, the condition of the existing substrate, and the number of coats required. A wet room or bathroom is typically quoted per project once we've assessed the substrate on-site, while larger floor areas are priced per square metre. Factors like removing old tiles, levelling uneven floors, and detailing around drains or thresholds all affect the final price. We provide a fixed quote after a site visit rather than a generic per-metre rate.
