    What is Fibrous Plastering?

Fibrous plastering is the craft of casting and installing decorative plasterwork reinforced with hessian and timber. Developed in the 19th century, it creates the intricate cornices, ceiling roses, enrichments and mouldings that define London's finest period interiors.

Unlike run-in-place plaster, fibrous work is cast in the workshop from original moulds or purpose-made patterns, then installed on site with precision. Complex profiles and repeating ornament can therefore be reproduced to exact detail.

Choice Finishes produces new fibrous plasterwork for luxury residential and hospitality projects and carries out sympathetic restoration of existing period ornament.

    Bespoke Ornamental Plasterwork

Fibrous plaster makes it possible to coordinate complete decorative schemes across arches, coffers, friezes, columns and ceilings. Each component is set out around the architecture so repeated details align cleanly through the room.

Our team works from original fabric, architect's drawings and approved samples, producing both restrained classical profiles and deeply enriched ornamental work.
