Our Specialisms
Skilled traditional plastering and skimming — skim coats, re-skims, and full wall and ceiling finishing — delivering the smooth, durable base every good decoration starts with.
Traditional plastering refers to the standard gypsum-based two-coat system used across most residential and commercial construction: a backing coat (browning or bonding) followed by a smooth finishing skim. Our plastering and skimming teams handle everything from small patch repairs to full house re-skims.
It covers new-build first-fix plastering, re-skimming old or cracked walls, patch repairs after electrical or plumbing work, and plasterboarding and skimming replacement ceilings.
Done well, it is unglamorous but essential — a flat, sound surface is the foundation every paint finish, wallpaper, and feature lighting scheme depends on.
We assess the substrate, background material, and any existing defects before specifying the right backing coat and skim finish for the job.
Application of bonding or browning backing coat appropriate to the substrate and background material.
A fine finishing skim applied over the backing coat to build a smooth, even surface.
Multiple trowel passes to achieve a flat, polished-smooth finish ready for decoration.
Controlled drying and a final snagging inspection before handover to decorators.
Answers to common questions we hear from clients, architects, and designers.
Cost depends on wall and ceiling area, the condition of the existing surface, and whether it's a full re-skim or patch repair. Small rooms and patch repairs are quoted as fixed jobs, while larger new-build or renovation projects are typically priced per square metre. We assess the substrate and any existing defects on-site before quoting.
