Choice Finishes brings the polished plaster we deliver for London's designers and hospitality interiors out to Buckinghamshire. Our work here covers the large Edwardian, Arts & Crafts and contemporary houses of Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield and Marlow, the Georgian town houses of Amersham Old Town and Beaconsfield Old Town, and the barns, farmhouses and flint-and-brick cottages of the Chiltern villages around Chesham, Great Missenden and Penn. We apply Venetian plaster, Marmorino, grassello, Tadelakt and external lime-based finishes. Explore all our finishes for polished plaster in London.

Venetian Plaster — Lucido
Many Buckinghamshire houses are big, with double-height entrance halls, galleried landings, orangeries and new kitchen wings. These spaces suit polished plaster particularly well. A tinted Marmorino in an entrance hall and up a sweeping staircase gives a calm, stone-like surface that stands up to family life. In formal drawing rooms, a deeper Venetian finish adds warmth. In contemporary rebuilds and extensions, smoother Venetian finishes and microcement are often combined to give a seamless, gallery-like look. We sample on site so you can judge each finish under your own light, which in a country house can vary a lot from room to room.
Barns in the Chilterns bring exposed oak frames, high vaulted spaces and big openings, and plaster has to work around all of them. Marmorino and hand-worked Spatulata finishes suit the honest character of a barn, giving the walls between frames a soft, natural texture rather than a hard gloss. Because these are lime-based finishes, they also work well with the breathable construction of older agricultural buildings. Where infill panels or walls need repair first, our lime plasterers can carry out that work and keep the structure breathable.
Amersham and Beaconsfield old towns are conservation areas, and much of the county's older housing stock was built with lime. Polished plasters made from slaked lime and marble remain vapour-permeable, so they can be compatible with solid walls where gypsum or acrylic finishes would trap moisture. We assess the background, repair in lime where needed, and agree the specification with the architect and conservation officer for listed buildings.
Pool houses, spa rooms and principal bathrooms are common in larger Buckinghamshire homes. Tadelakt, the traditional waterproof lime plaster, suits showers, steam rooms and wet zones when correctly detailed. Microcement gives seamless floors and walls, including around pools. Waxed Venetian plaster or Marmorino works on walls away from direct water.
External polished plaster can suit garden walls, loggias, courtyards and pool-house elevations. It needs a breathable, weather-resistant lime-based system over a sound render background, detailed properly at sills, copings and junctions. We carry out external rendering too, so the background and finish can be handled by one team.
Our best-known polished plaster projects are in London, not Buckinghamshire. At Maison Estelle in Mayfair we applied bespoke-tinted polished plaster throughout the principal rooms of a historic townhouse, matching each tone to the designer's physical samples. That level of colour control is what we bring to a Buckinghamshire home. Our Buckinghamshire area page covers our lime plastering, rendering and cornice work across the county.
Yes. Marmorino and Spatulata finishes give the walls between exposed timbers a soft, natural texture, and because they are lime-based they can work with the breathable construction of older barns. We assess the background and repair it in lime where needed first.
Yes, using a breathable, weather-resistant lime-based exterior system over a sound render background. Garden walls, loggias and pool houses are good candidates. We also carry out external rendering, so we can take responsibility for both.
We work across south and central Buckinghamshire, including Beaconsfield, Amersham, Marlow, Gerrards Cross, High Wycombe and Chesham and the surrounding Chiltern villages. Contact us with your location and we will confirm.
